If you're wondering if you could benefit from talking to a therapist, it's very likely that you would. Mental health therapy can help people in a variety of ways, and working collaboratively with a therapist to set goals for how it can benefit your life specifically is a part of the process.
Nope. You and your therapist will determine the frequency of your sessions based on your goals and preferences. It may be beneficial to initially attend weekly therapy for a few weeks or months, and then decrease to every other week or monthly.
As long as you feel it is helpful. Some people come for several weeks, some for several months, and other for several years. We're big on customizing our therapy treatment plans to fit what you need.
The short answer is: nothing. These words are often used interchangeably and their meanings have evolved over time. Our goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients can explore, grow, and counsel together with skilled therapists to help achieve their goals.
When you arrive for your first session, you'll take a seat in our waiting room and your therapist will come find you at your session time; no need to check in with anyone. Your first session will likely focus on getting to know you and what you're hoping to get out of therapy.
Your therapist is trained to make the process as comfortable as possible. No relationship is perfect, and we have a shame free approach to discussing any topics you feel would be help improve your relationship. Your first session will involve discussing the stressors in your relationship and setting goals for the therapy process.
